Ostia Lido

Ostia Lido is a district of Rome far from the capital approx Km 27

It is on the Tyrrhenian Sea and many Romans use to spend summer holidays here

It founded in 1924 and became soon the favourite sea resort of the Romans and many Art Nouveau houses were built on the waterfront

It often confused with Ostia Antica, the archaelogical area that is nearby

Rione Monti

The valley between the Esquiline Hill and the Celian Hill underscores the area's nickname Monti (Mounts)

Monti is the first of Rome's rioni (or districts) owes its name Monti to the fact that it incorporated the Esquiline, Viminal, part of the Quirinal and Caelian hills

Monti is the oldest district in Rome

There are Roman ruins and mediaeval, Renaissance and Baroque buildings in a succession of styles covering 2500 years of history

Arch of Constantine

The Arch of Constantine is a triumphal arch in Rome, situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill

It was erected by the Roman Senate to commemorate Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312

Dedicated in 315, it is the latest of the existing triumphal arches in Rome and the only to make extensive use if spolia re-using several major relliefs from 2nd century imperial monuments which give a striking and famous stylist contrast the sculpture newly created for the arch

It is 21 m hight, 25,9 m wide and 7,4 m deep. It has three archways, the central one being 11,5 me high and 6,5 m wide, the lateral archways 7,4 m by 3,4 m each.
The top is brickwork reveted with marble
